Supreme Court Establishes Independent SIT to Investigate Allegations of Animal Fat in Tirupati Laddus
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has formed a five-member independent Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate claims regarding the use of animal fat in the famous Tirupati laddus. This decision emphasizes the court’s commitment to preventing the issue from becoming a “political battleground.”
The move comes as a significant shift from the Andhra Pradesh government’s previously constituted SIT, established on September 26, to address this politically sensitive matter. “We don’t want this to be turned into a political drama. There are sentiments of crores of people throughout the world,” stated a bench of Justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan.
