The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has formally requested the Supreme Court to take suo motu cognizance of allegations regarding the adulteration of Tirupati laddus and to initiate an investigation to identify those responsible.
This decision was made during a meeting of the Kendriya Margdarshak Mandal in Tirupati, attended by VHP’s international secretary, Bajrang Bagra, and other religious leaders.
The VHP’s appeal follows comments by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who accused the previous YSRCP government of using substandard ingredients and animal fats in preparing the famous Tirupati laddus, known for their unique flavor.
In their statement, the VHP urged the Supreme Court to address this issue swiftly, emphasizing that any delays could lead to widespread protests from the Hindu community, who are already upset over the matter.
They expressed that the ongoing allegations and political disputes between the ruling NDA and opposition YSRCP regarding the Tirupati laddus have deeply troubled the Hindu community, hurting the sentiments of millions of devotees of Sri Venkateswara Swamy, as laddu prasadam is viewed as a sacred blessing.
