Senior BJP leader Dr. Subramanian Swamy has approached the Supreme Court regarding a recent controversy where animal fat was allegedly discovered in the Tirupati Laddu prasadam served at the renowned Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh.
According to reports, a forensic lab revealed that the ghee used in preparing the laddus at the temple, where Lord Venkateswara is worshipped, contained traces of animal fat. Dr. Swamy has requested the formation of a court-supervised committee to investigate claims of substandard ingredients being used in the prasadam’s preparation.
In his petition, Dr. Swamy emphasized the need for internal checks to ensure the quality of the ingredients supplied to the temple. He has also requested that the Andhra Pradesh government submit a detailed report on the source and sampling of the ghee used in the laddu-making process.
Additionally, Dr. Swamy expressed concern that the test results were leaked to the media before being properly addressed by the temple’s administrative officers, and he argued that certain individuals took advantage of the situation for political purposes.
