Karnataka BJP MLA Munirathna has been remanded to 14 days judicial custody in connection with charges of rape, sexual harassment, and criminal intimidation, following a complaint from a 40-year-old woman.
His arrest came after the woman accused him of the offenses, which allegedly took place at a private resort under the jurisdiction of the Kaggalipura police station.
On Saturday, a special court remanded Munirathna to judicial custody, sending him to the Parappana Agrahara central jail. The arrest follows a separate case in which the MLA had been granted conditional bail on charges of making casteist slurs. Despite his release from three days in custody in the SC/ST atrocity case, he was arrested again in relation to this new case involving the woman’s allegations.
