AAP-Congress Alliance Hinges on Seat-Sharing Agreement Ahead of Haryana Polls
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha has confirmed that discussions are ongoing between his party and the Congress regarding a possible alliance for the upcoming Haryana assembly elections. Chadha, 35, stated that while both parties are working positively toward an agreement, they will only proceed with an alliance if it creates a “win-win situation” for both sides.
Chadha emphasized that the alliance talks are prioritizing the unity and demands of Haryana’s citizens over individual party interests. Although specific details about seat-sharing were not disclosed, Chadha assured that a decision would be made before the September 12 nomination deadline. He added, “If no win-win situation is reached, we will not proceed with the alliance.”
According to a PTI report, AAP is asking for 10 seats in the election, while Congress is willing to concede only seven. Deepak Babaria, Congress’ Haryana in-charge, also mentioned that other parties, such as CPI (M) and Samajwadi Party, have approached them for alliances, though these are expected to be on a much smaller scale.
The elections for all 90 seats in the Haryana assembly are scheduled for October 5, with vote counting to take place on October 8.
