The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday demanded the resignation of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, alleging that he authorized the felling of 1,100 trees in Delhi’s Ridge area
As of now, there has been no response from the Lieutenant Governor’s office.
During a press conference, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed that an affidavit from the contractor associated with the project indicated that the lieutenant governor had approved the tree removal.
“The affidavit submitted by the contractor mentions that an email from the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) stated that the lieutenant governor had granted permission to remove trees obstructing the right of way,” Bharadwaj asserted.
He added that the email had “exposed” the lieutenant governor and called for his immediate resignation. Bharadwaj further challenged the lieutenant governor to publicly clarify the situation.
