Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Three Advocates for Delhi High Court Judgeships

Three Advocates Recommended for Delhi High Court Judgeships

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court Collegium proposed the appointment of three advocates as judges of the Delhi High Court. The High Court is currently operating with 39 judges, significantly short of its sanctioned strength of 60.

The recommended candidates are:

– Ajay Digpaul
– Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar
– Shwetasree Majumder

The recommendation follows a resolution from October 25, 2023, in which the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, along with the two senior-most judges of the court, put forward these names for judicial appointments.

The Collegium reviewed and assessed the candidates’ merit and suitability based on the records and observations provided by the Department of Justice. After thorough scrutiny, the Collegium found all three candidates fit for elevation to the bench.
