Delhi Excise Policy Case: Court Summons Arvind Kejriwal on July 12

Court Summons Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi Excise Policy Case on July 12

A Delhi court has issued a production warrant for July 12 against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently in judicial custody for his alleged involvement in the Delhi Excise Policy scam case.

Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of the Rouse Avenue Courts took cognizance of the seventh supplementary prosecution complaint filed by the national agency against Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the money laundering case. The court also acknowledged the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) eighth supplementary chargesheet against accused Vinod Chauhan and Ashish Mathur.

Kejriwal remains in judicial custody in relation to the corruption and money laundering cases associated with the alleged scam. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) examined him in Tihar jail, recording his statement hours after the Delhi High Court stayed his bail in the PMLA case.

Following court permission, the CBI interrogated Kejriwal in court on June 26 and subsequently arrested him formally. He was initially detained by the ED on March 21. Although the Supreme Court granted him interim bail until June 1 due to the general elections, he surrendered on June 2.

Kejriwal has challenged his arrest by the CBI and the subsequent three-day police custody remand before the Delhi High Court. He has also filed a plea seeking bail in the corruption case. Both cases are scheduled for hearing on July 17.
