Kerala High Court Inaugurates e-Sewa Kendra in Idukki to Enhance Legal Access for Tribal Populations
Justice A. Muhamed Mustaque, the Chairman of the High Court Computerisation Committee, inaugurated the e-Sewa Kendra in Idukki district on May 25, 2024
The event took place at the new Family Court building in Thodupuzha, Idukki, with Chief Justice A J Desai and Justice C S Dias also in attendance.
The e-Sewa Kendra offers assistance for e-filing cases, accessing case status information, and obtaining copies of judgments and orders.
Thodupuzha is home to the second-largest tribal population in the state, many of whom live in remote areas lacking internet and transportation facilities.
A Mobile e-Sewa Kendra aims to provide an inclusive and accessible justice system for marginalized communities, particularly the tribal population. This initiative will eliminate geographical barriers, allowing advocates and litigants from remote areas to access legal services. It will also support individuals unfamiliar with technology by assisting with e-filing and case status inquiries. The Mobile e-Sewa Kendra will serve as a one-stop solution for various legal services, leveraging technology to bridge gaps in legal accessibility.
Key components of the Mobile e-Sewa Kendra include:
- Vehicle: A Bharat Benz minibus equipped with customized facilities.
- Hardware and Network: Laptops or desktops, a printer, and internet connectivity.
- Facilities: To ensure comfort, the vehicle is equipped with air conditioning, a fan, and drinking water facilities.
